TV Operations Technician (Full time)
Key objective of the TV Operations Technician is to ensure the continuity of quality live and pre-recorded programs that go on-air by constantly monitoring A/V signals and operating Master Control and Production Control equipment. Reports to the TV Operations Supervisor and the Director of Engineering.
Tasks:Be the audio operator/technician during production of live or recorded programs ensuring that the end product has good audio quality. Be the video operator/technician to set-up cameras and lighting as needed for live or recorded programs. This includes helping in arranging the studio set-up.Operate all equipment/systems in the Master Control to ensure continuity of on-air signals inclusive of the automation, file servers/playouts, satellite reception and routing and other related tasks as needed.Work on video files with regards to transcoding, segmenting and others as needed. Continuously monitor all signals related to KTSF, sub-channels (also streaming) and effect first-aid remedies and/or elevate issues to Supervisors and Engineers. Implement preventive and corrective measures as instructed by Engineers and/or Supervisors, being the on-site technical person especially during off-office hours. Work as field production A/V technician as needed during special events.Other tasks as assigned by Supervisors.
Qualifications: Able to think critically under pressure and has the presence of mind during program production. This includes being able to communicate effectively with the rest of the Operations team.Has the right attitude towards the job, his co-workers and supervisors with willingness to learn and grow professionally. This means being willing to work on shifts, holidays and weekends as needed.Physically fit to climb ladders as needed. Able to lift 30 pounds of equipment.- Physically fit for visual and aural monitoring of color video and stereo audio.
Early Morning Mandarin & Cantonese-speaking Mojo (mobile journalist) News Reporter (Full time)
KTSF is seeking a full-time, early morning Mandarin & Cantonese-speaking Mojo (mobile journalist) News Reporter who can shoot news and produce, write and edit news for broadcast, on-line and on social media. Available for a Monday through Friday, 3:00am-11am work schedule. B.A. degree or higher in related field is required. A minimum of one year of translation work, writing, reporting in broadcast news or equivalent. Must speak/write and have excellent command of Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Valid CA driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance.
TV News Writer/MOJO (mobile journalist) News Reporter - Mandarin speaker (Full time)
KTSF is seeking a Mandarin-speaking Mojo (mobile journalist) News Reporter who can shoot news and produce, write and edit news for broadcast, on-line and social media. Available for a Sunday through Thursday work schedule. B.A. degree or higher in related field is required. A minimum of one year of translation work, writing, reporting in broadcast news or equivalent. Must speak/write and have excellent command of Mandarin and English. Valid CA driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance required.
Production Assistant (Graphics) – Part Time
KTSF is seeking a part-time Production Assistant (Graphics) to develop graphics for live, in-language evening newscasts, promo spots and other programming. Requires problem-solving Solves with Graphics Supervisor to insure quality of on air image. Responsibilities: Develops on-line computer-aided design elements using Chinese character generators and Chinese input method. Creates graphics with PC using Photoshop, Inscriber and related graphics software. Organizes list of names, location, weather and sports information for News, Programming and other departments as directed. Plays back graphics during live newscasts. Creative problem-solving under the pressure of a live newscast and other deadlines. May perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Communication or equivalent preferred. Two years of experience creating graphics using Chinese character generators and Chinese input method required. Proficiency in reading/writing English and Chinese required. Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills. Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work professionally with all levels. Ability to organize, manage, control workflow and meets deadlines. Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel required. Job Type: Part-time. EOE.

KTSF-TV offers internships to college and university students who major in Broadcasting, Communications, Journalism and Human Resources Management. Internships are unpaid and require enrollment in an academic internship program. We reimburse commuting expenses at a rate of $15.00 per day.
