This half-hour special tells the stories of African American and Chinese American seniors living in San  Francisco’s Bay View district.

Reporters visited a senior day care center on a little hill near Hunters Point  where a  closely knitted community cherishes memories and the rich history of   the African American community.   Along Third Street, there is newly -built , affordable senior housing with tenants of different ethnic backgrounds  which makes up the new Bay View community.  By sharing stories,  viewers see how neighbors from different backgrounds understand one another.

This project is a collaboration of the San Francisco Chronicle/SFGate.com, KTSF Television, a local Asian-language station, and New America Media, an ethnic media association with more than 3,000 member organizations.  We launched the project with the  hope that sharing each other’s stories would encourage communities to also share their common goals.
