Free summer street festival offers specialty shopping and family fun

The Peninsula’s favorite summer arts and entertainment festival is returning to Burlingame Avenue, this August 19-20, 2017! Hosted by the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce, this event is Free to the community, drawing more than 7,000 people over the two-day extravaganza.
Burlingame On the Avenue features hundreds of talented artisans displaying hand-crafted products. These artists’ creations include paintings, textiles, jewelry, children’s fabric books, container gardens, photography, and more! Everything is unique, so this is the perfect place to find a special treat or gift for family and friends which you can’t find anywhere else.
Once again, Burlingame on the Avenue is proud to offer three entertainment stages throughout the festival, which boast a diverse mix of musical and dance performances. Bands play music from all different genres, like Americana, Big Band Jazz, Dance Music, Acoustic Rock, Pop, Funk and Blues. At the local stage, Burlingame on the Avenue also features special cultural acts from Japan, Mexico, Hawaii and—new this year—Russia!
This festival caters to the whole family, with our interactive Kids Zone open to children of all ages, offering carnival style rides and family friendly games.

Free Shakespeare in the Park’s ‘Hamlet’

In 2017, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival celebrates 35 years as the Bay Area’s acclaimed provider of free Shakespeare performances with a production of “Hamlet”. The play speaks strongly about disenfranchisement, frustration, and the need for action during troubled times. Hamlet is torn between revenging his father’s murder and going along quietly with the new regime. He shares his inner turmoil in a series of soliloquies which have become familiar all over the world.

Audiences can further their enjoyment of this production by attending a fun and informative 15-minute Green Show, 30 minutes before the performance.

No tickets or reservations are needed for these complimentary shows.

Silicon Valley’s World-Class Art, Music & Food Festival is a spectacularly fun celebration of life featuring 500 professional artists and craftmakers showing exceptional handcrafted wares, stellar live music on stage and street throughout downtown, the Comcast Pigskin Party Lounge with football and baseball on the giant screen TV and Cornhole Corner, fabulous food and drink with premium wines, seasonal craft beer, refreshing sangria, mimosas, fresh-fruit margaritas, classic Bloody Mary’s, and Honeycrisp Apple Mules – the signature craft cocktail, plus the very cool What’s Up Photo Booth, artisan specialty food purveyors, sensational young performers strut their showstopping stuff on the Mountain View’s Got Talent Community Stage, Super Duper Kids’ Park with ultra thrilling bungee jumping, wild and wacky waterballerz, a 24’ rock climbing wall, giant inflatables, super cool henna art, glitter tattoos, face painting, an organic and green products showcase, health and wellness displays and home and garden exhibits.
