Get eye to eye with a butterfly in the exhibit Butterflies & Blooms at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. The popular exhibit has been extended by overwhelming demand until January 7, 2018. The Special Exhibit gallery has been transformed into a beautiful and intimate cottage garden aflutter with hundreds of butterflies on the wing including magnificent monarchs, western swallowtails, painted ladies, and more.
The Butterfly Bungalow at the entrance to the gallery also allows you to observe the pupae in their chrysalis stage. You never know, you may be lucky enough to catch the moment when one of these delicate beauties emerges.

- A Musical Fairy Tale, with book, music and lyrics by award-winning Bay Area playwright Min Kahng. Based upon the Hans Christian Andersen fairy-tale, THE SONG OF THE NIGHTINGALE is an enchanting, pop musical romp for the whole family that reminds us that true beauty and worth is always found within.
THE SONG OF THE NIGHTINGALE will have 12 performances, including two previews, September 28 through October 21, 2017, at Town Hall Theatre Company, 3535 School Street, in Lafayette, CA. The San Jose State University (SJSU) Symphony Orchestra, with pianist Sarah Cahill, celebrate the 100th Anniversary of SJSU’s own Lou Harrison, featuring his Piano Concerto, commissioned by Keith Jarrett. Directed by Fred Cohen, the orchestra will also perform works by Grieg and Mozart. Sarah Cahill is recognized as a “sterling pianist and intrepid illuminator of the classical avant-garde” (The New York Times). This performance is part of Cahill’s international tour presenting Harrison’s solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire during his centennial year.

San Francisco Trolley Dances returns with performances from the city’s South of Market to Golden Gate Park. An annual, admission-free festival that takes place each October, SFTD has been dubbed “art for citizens” and “a gift to the City.” A total of 12 tours are scheduled over the weekend, six each day starting at 11am, 11:45am, 12:30pm, 1:15pm, 2pm and 2:45pm. Each tour runs approximately two hours. This year, audiences will get a taste of traditional Tibetan folk dance and music, dance theater, contact improvisation, hip hop, taiko drumming and much more.
