Get eye to eye with a butterfly in the exhibit Butterflies & Blooms at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. The popular exhibit has been extended by overwhelming demand until January 7, 2018. The Special Exhibit gallery has been transformed into a beautiful and intimate cottage garden aflutter with hundreds of butterflies on the wing including magnificent monarchs, western swallowtails, painted ladies, and more.
The Butterfly Bungalow at the entrance to the gallery also allows you to observe the pupae in their chrysalis stage. You never know, you may be lucky enough to catch the moment when one of these delicate beauties emerges.

San Francisco Trolley Dances returns with performances from the city’s South of Market to Golden Gate Park. An annual, admission-free festival that takes place each October, SFTD has been dubbed “art for citizens” and “a gift to the City.” A total of 12 tours are scheduled over the weekend, six each day starting at 11am, 11:45am, 12:30pm, 1:15pm, 2pm and 2:45pm. Each tour runs approximately two hours. This year, audiences will get a taste of traditional Tibetan folk dance and music, dance theater, contact improvisation, hip hop, taiko drumming and much more.

Kids and adults alike touch and learn to make sounds on the instruments of a symphony orchestra in our huge “Instrument Petting Zoo.” SF Chamber Orchestra performs Very First Concerts for wriggly toddlers, with repeat performances of “Big, Bold, Brass!” at 10:40, 11:20, and 12:00pm. The celebration also includes instrument making, class demos, face painting, and musical performances for kids, by kids all day. Every child receives a special prize at Community Music Day. Marvin the Mouse wants to be popular. Constantly bullied and picked on by the “cool” rats, he is labeled as a loser and a geek. As respite, Marvin retreats into his science books and a world of fantasy. He longs to have adventures and be the hero.
Join Marvin on the space adventure of a lifetime: a trip to the surface of the moon on his homemade rocket. There he meets a strange cast of misfit creatures, learns of infinite peril and views awesome beauty. Will Marvin make his dreams come true and experience the glory and acceptance he craves?
