Youth take action to stop violence in Oakland

(Excerpt from Press Releases)

Close to 200 youth and their supporters have participated in a 74-day fast-relay and facilitated a community “Peace Pledge” to demonstrate their commitment to Peace-building and addressing the violence in our communities. The campaign was launched on Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Life Academy by youth leaders in Alternatives in Action’s Be A Man and real Ambitious Women groups. Since January, youth from other communitie4s have joined Life students in support their campaign to draw attention to the unprecedented number of children killed in Oakland over the last few months.
