The “Re-Create” art exhibit, which opens at a gallery in downtown Oakland, features artworks created from discarded materials by student artists in Oakland schools, in a hands-on application of the 4Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle and rot (compost).
Students, ranging from fouth grade to 12th grade, submitted nearly 120 individual and collaborative entries to the contest. Fifteen pieces of artwork were awarded for top, second or third place.
The exhibition, located at 1423 Broadway, opens for public viewing from November 16 through December 21, 2012, Wednesday through Friday, from noon to 3:00pm. Please click here for more information.
