With more than 300 passengers on board, a Boeing 747 aircraft took off from San Francisco International Airport Tuesday morning, marked the end of the iconic jumbo jet era.
Starting nearly 50 years ago, the 747 has been generally used for international flights and became part of many Americans’ first overseas travel memories.
“What it did from my perspective, it really opened up flying and the world, to so many people because of its size and capacity.” United CEO Oscar Munoz said from the jet’s upper deck before takeoff.
