BART contract talks continue

The Bay Area Rapid Transit agency and its striking union workers are scheduled to continue contract talks, as a union negotiator reported progress in discussions.

Negotiator Josie Mooney with Service Employees International Union, Local 1021, said early Wednesday that talks were set to resume at 1 p.m. The two sides met for hours starting the previous evening.

Mooney said they have worked hard, but she could not comment further because a mediator has asked the parties not to speak to the media.

BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost told the San Francisco Chronicle ( ) that meeting until 3 a.m. Wednesday as the parties did is “always a good sign.”

Workers, however, remained on strike, snarling the morning commute for a third straight day.
