65-year-old Jacqueline Quach is able to see her daughter’s home from her window of the unit at the senior housing on Third Street. The mother of four prefers to live alone even though she loves her children and grandchildren very much. Quach’s mother is Chinese and her father is French. The good-looking Quach grew up and got married in Vietnam. Escaping from the communist regime, Quach and her husband immigrated to the United States with their children in 1983. Quach’s husband passed away in 1997 in Arizona . With great sadness, she moved back to San Francisco and started a new life. Quach is retired and becomes very active in volunteering. Living in a new senior community, she is willing to be a bridge between the monolingual Chinese seniors and the English-speaking elderlys.
