Two women suffer life-threatening injuries at BBQ

Two women suffered life-threatening injuries this afternoon at Robert Crown Memorial State Beach in Alameda when an aerosol can placed near a hot barbecue exploded, fire officials said today.

The explosion was reported at 1:38 p.m. on the 600 block of Westline Drive, according to Alameda Fire Capt. James Colburn.

The woman were taken by helicopter to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment.

No other injuries were reported.
