Three lanes of southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland remain closed due to an early morning deadly crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident, involving at least two vehicles, was reported around 12:50 a.m. on southbound Highway 880 between Fifth and 10th avenues, blocking all lanes, the CHP said.
Two men have died in the crash, according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau. The deceased have not yet been identified.
A Sig-alert was issued around 1:20 a.m. The slow lane in the area was opened for traffic about an hour later, at 2:25 a.m., the CHP said.
It is unknown when the roadway will reopen. Further details about the crash were not immediately available.
