Police seek 3 suspects after Halloween robbery

Police are searching for three armed and masked male suspects wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery on Halloween night in Watsonville.

According to police, a man and woman were handing out candy to trick or treaters at a residence on Gonzales Street, near Freedom Boulevard and Gonzales Park, shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday.

The two victims answered the door to greet what they assumed was more trick or treaters, but upon opening the door, three masked suspects rushed into the home, police said.

The suspects assaulted the male resident, then held a gun up to the couple and forced them to move to another location in the house, police said.

The suspects then ransacked the house and took various items. The suspects then fled the scene on foot leaving a trail of the victims’ belongings in their wake.

The victims called 911 and police said officers arrived at the home within minutes.

The male resident was transported to Watsonville Community Hospital for injuries to his face, which are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Officers searched the area, processed the crime scene and interviewed several neighbors in an effort to locate the suspects.

Police are continuing to search for the suspects based on the descriptions given by the victims.

The suspects were described as three males in their 20s. All three suspects were wearing masks and gloves, police said.

One of the three suspects was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, another was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, and the third was wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt, according to police.

Anyone with any information regarding the robbery or the suspects is urged to contact the Watsonville Police Department’s Investigation Bureau at (831) 768-3352 or may call the anonymous crime tip line at (831) 728-3544.
