Children riding down a slide on their parents lap seems like fun. But it isn’t such a safe thing to do.
Dr. Nirav Pandya, Pediatric Orthopedist at Oakland Children’s Hospital has treated a number of toddlers and young children with broken legs as a result of going down a slide on an adult’s lap.
It happens when a foot gets caught on the slide and the force of the adult’s weight behind the child ends up breaking their leg. Dr. Pandya said this kind of accident can be prevented by allowing a child to go down the slide by themselves with supervision on how to play safely.
