Asians become majority workforce in Silicon Valley

According to Census Bureau statistics, the percentage of Asian high-tech workers grew from 39 percent in 2000 to over 50 percent in 2010. Meanwhile, white workers decreased from more than 50 percent in 2000 to 41 percent in 2010.

Most of Asian tech workers are in Santa Clara, San Mateo, Contra Costa and San Francisco counties. In addition,  Asian-American software developers saw a huge increase from nearly 45 percent of those workers in 2000 to more than 53 percent in Alameda County; and from nearly 50 percent to nearly 60 percent in both San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
