SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)
An hours-long standoff at a medical marijuana dispensary in San Francisco’s Bayview District has ended.
The standoff began around 3:50 a.m. after suspects wearing ski masks robbed a dispensary in the 2100 block of Jennings Street, police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.
Three suspects fled on foot but were arrested about two blocks away, he said.
Mid-morning, officers remained at the scene and were “working under the belief that there are still people inside the building — possibly a suspect as well as employees,” Andraychak said.
He said, “We’re treating it as a possible barricaded situation, possibly a hostage situation.”
Several people could be seen sitting on the ground against a building at Van Dyke Avenue and Jennings Street near officers, but Andraychak said he could not confirm who those people were.
Shortly after 10 a.m., the final suspect was taken into custody and led away in handcuffs.
During the standoff, several streets in the area were shut down, and San Francisco Municipal Railway’s 54-Felton bus line was rerouted, Muni officials said.
