SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)

Four people were arrested after they allegedly assaulted a group of people with a paintball gun near the Balboa Park BART station in San Francisco on Saturday night, police said.

Three men were walking east on Geneva Avenue at 11:25 p.m. Saturday when a white Audi A4 pulled up near the group and one of the passengers fired a paintball gun at them, San Francisco police said.

One of the victims, 28, was struck in the eye. The second victim, 32, was hit in the back, arm, and leg. The third victim, 39, was shot in the back, police said.

Based on a vehicle description, the suspect vehicle was stopped shortly afterward and the suspects arrested, police said.

None of the injuries were considered life-threatening but one victim suffered a serious eye injury, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The group was arrested and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, and conspiracy, Shyy said. One of the suspects also had outstanding warrants in San Mateo County that included theft, assault, and criminal threats, he said.

According to Shyy, there were multiple calls regarding people being shot at by a paintball gun. Anyone with information regarding those instances is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444.
