San Mateo: Pedestrian injured in traffic collision

SAN MATEO (BCN)

A 67-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a van in San Mateo Thursday morning, police said.

San Mateo police and emergency medical responders received a report of a pedestrian struck by a van in the 2700 block of Alameda De Las Pulgas, near Beresford Park, at about 8:15 a.m.

The pedestrian, a San Mateo resident, was crossing Alameda De Las Pulgas in a crosswalk when she was struck by a van, driven by a 30-year-old San Mateo resident, according to police.

When emergency crews arrived, the pedestrian was suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby trauma center, police said.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and is not suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.

The collision remains under investigation, according to police.
