San Leandro man arrested for attempting to kiss boy

SAN LEANDRO (BCN)

A man who allegedly tried to forcibly kiss a middle school boy at a gas station in San Leandro Wednesday morning has turned himself in, police said.

The suspect came to the San Leandro Police Department at about 1 p.m. to surrender and has been placed under arrest, according to police.

San Leandro police said their investigation is ongoing and when it’s completed they will forward it to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for charging. They said they aren’t releasing the suspect’s name at this time.

Authorities said at about 8:20 a.m. today a group of Bancroft Middle School students were congregating at the Shell Gas Station at 1285 Bancroft Ave. when a man in a green pick-up truck parked near a pump and entered the station’s convenience store.

After the man left the store a few moments later, he allegedly walked up to the boy, grabbed him by his shoulders and pulled the boy toward him in an attempt to kiss him, police said.

The boy was able to push himself away from the suspect, but as the suspect walked back to his truck he continued to use vulgar language and make lewd comments to all of the students in the general vicinity, according to police.
