A cab driver was held up at knifepoint by a man and a woman in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood early Monday morning, a San Francisco police spokesman said.

The robbery was reported at 1:30 a.m. near Potrero Avenue and 15th Street, according to police Officer Gordon Shyy.

The cab driver, a 31-year-old man, had picked up a woman in her 30s at Sixth and Market streets who then asked him to drive to get her boyfriend at Geary and Jones streets, Shyy said.

The boyfriend, a man in his 30s, sat in the front of the car, he said.

The pair asked the driver to take them to the Potrero Hill area.

Once the taxi arrived at Potrero Avenue and 15th Street, the man started removing the surveillance camera and computer console from the cab, according to Shyy.

The man then pulled out a knife and demanded the driver’s property, Shyy said.

The cab driver complied and turned over cellphones, cash, his credit card and his jacket. He also let the man take the taxi’s camera and computer, Shyy said.

Both suspects got out of the cab near Kansas and 15th streets and fled on foot. As of this morning they had not been arrested, according to Shyy.

The driver was not injured in the hold-up.
