Pair arrested after shooting & pursuit with toddler in car

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)

A man and woman were arrested late Monday night in connection with a shooting in San Francisco’s Bayview District and a subsequent pursuit during which they allegedly had a small child in their car, a police spokesman said today.

Officers responded at about 9:50 p.m. Monday to reports of shots fired near Gilman Avenue and Jennings Street and learned a short time later that a shooting victim had arrived at San Francisco General Hospital, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The man had been shot in the leg and is expected to survive, Shyy said.

The suspect vehicle, described as lime-green in color, was spotted in the city’s Ingleside neighborhood and its driver did not yield when officers tried to pull the car over, Shyy said.

A pursuit ensued, during which a gun was thrown out of the car. The chase ended on northbound Interstate Highway 280 near Cesar Chavez Street, where the suspects were arrested, according to Shyy.

Officers found a toddler inside the car, and the child is now in the custody of Child Protective Services, Shyy said.

The driver, 24-year-old Jose Granados, was booked into jail on suspicion of attempted homicide, evading police, assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm, attempting to destroy evidence and child endangerment, Shyy said.

The passenger, Karen Garcia-Flores, 23, was booked into jail on suspicion of child endangerment and conspiracy.
