One killed in Salinas violent robbery, shooting case

Salinas police have released surveillance video of a violent robbery last week that ended with three people being shot, one fatally, and they are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

The two suspects robbed the Hot Stop convenience store at 11 Williams Road shortly before 9:30 p.m. last Friday, according to police.

The armed suspects entered the store and demanded money from an employee, police said.

When the employee did not open the register fast enough, one of the suspects shot Sikimo Oh, 62, one of two friends visiting the employee at the time of the robbery, police said.

The same suspect then shot the second visiting friend and the store employee before turning back to Oh and striking her numerous times, police said.

The suspects attempted to open the register themselves, then fled on foot north on Williams Road, leaving empty-handed.

Oh was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries. The second victim was still in critical but stable condition at a hospital as of this week, police said.

The store employee was treated at a hospital and released.

The first suspect is described as a male around 5 feet 6 inches tall with dark-colored pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black mask covering his face.

The second suspect is described as a male around 6 feet tall with dark colored pants, a white hooded sweatshirt and a black mask covering his face.
