Oakland police release images of vandalism suspects


The Oakland Police Department is releasing photos and video surveillance footage of individuals responsible for acts of vandalism on recent nights in Oakland during protests against the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin shooting case in Florida.

Police are urging the public to help identify suspects responsible for vandalism during the protests.

Anyone with video surveillance, photos or information about individuals who have committed crimes related to the protests are urged to contact Sgt. Clifford Wong at (510)238-3951 or via email at cwong@oaklandnet.com.

Investigators would like to know the time and location of any documented vandalism or assaults and a description of the activity. The identity or description of suspects, their current location or direction of travel following the vandalism and any contact name, number, or information available.

The Oakland Police Department encourages the community to report protest-related tips on known or potential criminal activity.

Anyone with information can send Oakland police a tip by texing TIP OAKLANDPD to 888777 from a cell phone, or by calling the toll-free tip hotline at (855) 847-7247.
