Mei-Ling Sze, a veteran of broadcast news, has anchored the first live U.S. Chinese-Language Newscast since it's premiere in February, 1989. Sze is an anchor, chief editor and reporter for the newscast. As a reporter she has been around the world in covering stories that concerns the Chinese American community. This includes all U.S presidential elections since 1988 and that of the Taiwanese presidential elections since 2000. Her reports include U.S presidential visits to China and vis-a vis visits by the Chinese leadership to the United States. Her extensive knowledge in the area has brought her to contribute to "Under the Same Sky", a special KTSF News monthly presentation of features and documentaries that concerns Chinese around the world. The special has so far won many recognition from the journalistic field. It includes awards and nominations from the Radio and Television News Director Association, the Emmy's, the Telly, the Communicator and the Northern California Chinese Media Association.

While covering the summit meeting between President Clinton and President Jiang Zemin, Sze's question on human rights directed at both presidents in a press conference was featured on ABC Nightline and the New York Times. The live broadcast of the press conference around the world prompted Clinton and Jiang to debate human rights before a world audience for the first time in the history of the two countries.

A native of Hong Kong, China, Sze immigrated to the U.S. in 1988. She joined KTSF-TV in July, 1988, as a host for the Chinese Journal. A few months after that, she helped in the creation of KTSF's Chinese news, the first live Chinese Television Newscast in the United States. The news cast is now a permanent collection of the Paley Center for Media in New York.

In an article titled "Honor for KTSF" The San Francisco Chronicle quoted the president and CEO of the Paley Center for Media, Pat Michell, "Local television is replete with examples of stations' programming really making a difference in their markets," said Pat Mitchell, . "We are delighted to honor some of the best examples of this from across the country as a way of recognizing how effective local television has been in conveying important information while generating positive community actions."

Sze was an anchor and bilingual reporter for the Hong Kong TVB news. Sze graduated with a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the Hong Kong Baptist University.

Mei-Ling Sze has a very high profile in the local Chinese community and makes many personal appearances at various worthwhile events. As a board member of the Norcal Society of Professional Journalists, she helped to adapt SPJ's Code of Ethics for Journalists in Chinese.
