Cecilia Im joined KTSF Cantonese News as a general assignment reporter in 2003. In addition to reporting, she is also a backup for the anchor and assignment desk.

Cecilia has done live coverage of important events occuring in the U.S. inlcuding the historical visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to the United States in April 2006.

Her work as a reporter includes daily local coverage and a number of feature stories covering a wide range of areas such as elder abuse, the Medicare prescription drug plan, immigrant hardship such as acquiring a green card, and international politics. In 2007, Cecilia won an award for her work as a reporter from the Northern California Chinese Media Association. A feature story on the Middle East which was produced by Cecilia and coworker, Kwokshu Leung, won the Best Investigative/In-Depth award from NCM ( New California Media ) Ethnic Media Awards in 2005.

Cecilia is always eager to learn more about her craft and, in May 2005 she took part in the California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowships. Since then, she has worked on several health related stories, including a report on sleep disorders among Asian Americans, and a series on lead prevention.

Before coming to the U.S., Cecilia was the Macau Correspondent for Hong Kong TVB News and covered the political, economic, social and breaking news in Macau and western part of the Pearl River Delta of China. The major events and news covered by Cecilia included the Macau Handover in 1999, visits from Chinese top leadership to Macau, SARS and the liberalization of Macau’s gaming industry.

Cecilia Im received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Communications from the University of Macau.
