An investigation into an officer-involved shooting was blocking part of a busy thoroughfare in Milpitas Tuesday morning.
The shooting occurred after an officer pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 400 block of Jacklin Road at 1:49 a.m., police said.
As the officer got out of his patrol car, the driver of the car that was pulled over also exited his vehicle and shot at the officer, according to police.
The officer returned fire, and the suspect drove off. He remained at large as of 8 a.m.
The officer suffered minor injuries not related to the gunfire, and did not require medical treatment, police said.
Jacklin Road was shut down between Arizona Avenue and Campbell Street for the investigation but has since reopened.
Police have not yet released a description of the suspect or his car. Anyone with more information on the case is asked to call Milpitas police at (408) 586-2400.
