Medical relay performed in China to rescue US professor

An air medical team in Beijing on Monday morning safely transported a foreign patient from a Beijing hospital to an airport in Tianjin, where the patient will be flown to Seoul to catch another medical plane for the United States.

With no delays or pauses during its whole air transport process, the smooth medical relay performed by Beijing’s air medical service marked the first of its kind in China’s air medical transport service history.

On Sunday, the 999 Emergency Rescue Center of Beijing received the call for help. A professor from the University of Utah had to be sent back to the United States for further treatment for multiple fractures along his left ribs and neck after an accident during his trip to Tibet. The patient was receiving medical treatment in Beijing Union Medical College Hospital, but needed more advanced treatment.
