LAS VEGAS (AP) – A northern California man faces at least 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to bringing a girl to Las Vegas to work as a prostitute.
The U.S. District Attorney in Nevada says 27-year-old Andrew West of Hayward pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of transporting a minor for prostitution. He faces prison and a $250,000 fine at sentencing scheduled for April 30.
Prosecutors say the 16-year-old girl began working for West as a prostitute in San Jose and Stockton, Calif. early last year.
West and the girl went to Las Vegas in separate vehicles in May, and prosecutors say West told the girl to prostitute herself to pay for her motel room.
Authorities say she made $260 before she was arrested for soliciting an undercover officer for sex.
