A landslide hit Sanxi village in the city of Dujiangyan in southwestern China’s Sichuan Province on Wednesday morning, according to the publicity department of the Dujiangyan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The affected area of the landslide is two kilometers long, with about 1.5 million cubic meters of mud, rock and debris.
An initial investigation showed that the landslide flattened 11 homes and buried at least 30 people, the department said, although the precise number of those buried is not yet known.
Meanwhile, as of 18:30, 340 tourists in Sanxi have been moved to safe areas, while villagers nearby have also been relocated.
