The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who attempted to rob a Cupertino bank a week ago, a sheriff’s spokesman said Tuesday.

The robbery occurred at the Bank of America branch at 19376 Stevens Creek Blvd. at about 3:30 p.m. on July 23.

The suspect approached a bank teller, demanded money and threatened to shoot customers with a firearm, sheriff’s Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said.

The teller did not see a weapon and refused to hand over any money, he said. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

Anyone with any information about the robbery attempt or the suspect’s identity is asked to call Detective Sgt. Brown at (408) 808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 808-4431.
