A group of teenage basketball enthusiasts from Hubei, China is participating in the Golden State Warriors Basketball Camp.

Besides polishing basketball skills, students at the camp also have the chance to get a close look at the dunk team performance.

“The activities I enjoyed the most are, the dunk team performance, team match which we do everyday, and training with one-on-one skills” said Yang , a student from the Qingzhuhuxiangyi Foreign Languages School of Hunan Province in China.

Yang is also a fan of professional basketball star Jeremy Lin, who was with the Warriors in 2010 and 2011.

The 5-day basketball camp is only part of the summer exchange program Yang and his fellow classmates will take part in. The program also includes tours, and staying with local host families through which students can improve their English language skills and learn more about the United States.

According to the program’s co-organizer US-China Education Council, this kind of language and cultural exchange opportunity is gaining much popularity among high school students in China. International schools in China organize summer exchange programs to the U.S. every year. The USCEC sees an increasing trend in the number of participants.
