Hellas Leung joined the KTSF news team in July, 2000, as a newswriter. She is now an experienced full-time reporter for the Cantonese newscast. She has interviewed many well-known individuals including government, local community, entertainment and sports figures. In recent years, Ms. Leung developed regular, in-depth features, including “Oh Really” and “Day Trip,” about local Bay Area communities. She is also the weekend assignment editor and back-up anchor for the newscast. Following the 2005 terrorist attack in London, she provided live coverage for KTSF. Ms. Leung has received the “best news reporting” awards from the Northern California Chinese Media Association in both 2009 and 2011.
Previously, Ms. Leung was also anchor and editor for the show “Hong Kong Weekly.” Ms. Leung came to the United States as a foreign student in 1994. In May, 2000, she graduated from San Francisco State University with double bacherlor’s degrees in journalism and psychology. Afterwards, she worked as a reporter for a local neighborhood newspaper in San Francisco. Ms. Leung is now studying Spanish and the law, with the goal of producing more educational features for the local audience.
