Great Family:Quit Smoking

CCHRC – Quit Smoking
Quitting smoking is not an easy task, but you’re not alone. The Asian Alliance for Health has recently launched the Chinese Community Internet Stop Smoking Project. It’s a research program that aims to provide free, evidence-based smoking cessation resources to Chinese smokers and their families. If you are looking for free, practical advice to help you quit smoking, this is the website that you should take a look at: www.asiansforhealth.org.

This month, Great Family is welcoming two special guests: Dr. Angela Sun, Executive Director of Chinese Community Health Resources Center, and Dr. Janice Tsoi, an Associate Professor from the University of California, San Francisco. Our two guests explain clearly about how the research project can help Chinese smokers quit smoking. In addition, since Asian Alliance for Health is looking for ways to improve their content and services, they’re now recruiting 60 California Chinese smokers to try out their website and provide feedback. Each will receive $40 for taking the survey.

If you’re interested in learning more about this project, or would like to participate in the survey, please contact Chinese Community Health Resources Center for more information, their phone number is (415) 677-2473.

Great Family is a multi-media initiative which highlights family related health and social issues affecting the Asian-American community. Each month, a Great Family tip is delivered via 30-second broadcast vignettes featuring experts in the fields of medicine, nutrition, education, business, etc. The complete, long form version of each expert interview is made available for streaming on greatfamily.ktsf.com and is broadcast on the last Sunday of each month at 10:30pm on KTSF-TV.
