(KTSF) The following is an excerpt from a press Release from Chinese for Affirmative Action.
Friends of Educational Opportunities in Chinatown (FEOC), along with City College Chancellor Don Griffin and presidents of Chinese Six Companies announced a community fundraising campaign to raise $400,000 to furnish the new Chinatown/North Beach Campus that is scheduled to open in Fall 2012.
City College of San Francisco has identified that $800,000 is needed to purchase the necessary program equipment to serve students and create a complete educational facility.
A generous community patron has already donated half, and FEOC, along with City College officials, is asking for the community’s help in raising the other $400,000. FEOC seeks to raise $400,000 by the end of this year.
The City College Chinatown/North Beach Campus is in its finals stages of construction. Scheduled to be completed in May 2012 and open for classes in mid-2012, it must be ready to serve the over 6,000 students each semester from the local community.
The community wants to ensure it is properly equipped to benefit generations of immigrant students. It is asking for the community’s help in raising the funds to ensure it is a true community college that we can all be proud of.
