A crash in Fremont Sunday involving three teens who had been drinking left the driver facing felony charges in the death of his passenger, police said.

Police received word of the collision near Durham Road and Topaz Way at about 1:05 a.m.

The three 17-year-olds had crashed into a tree, police said. The front passenger had suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and a rear passenger were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries and released.

The driver was determined to have been drinking and was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence, police said. The driver was booked and released to his parents’ custody.
