A man in his 20s shot in a West Oakland neighborhood Wednesday morning died in an ambulance on his way to the hospital, according to police.
The shooting was reported at 9 a.m. in the 1000 block of Willow Street, police said.
The man stumbled into a corner liquor store before being taken away by an ambulance, according to a neighbor.
The neighbor said he heard gunshots on the street outside his window and saw a victim taken out of Sharifs Market at 1044 Willow St. and into an ambulance.
There were several witnesses to the brazen daytime shooting who stayed to give statements to police, Officer Johnna Watson said.
Investigators are going over their statements as well as surveillance footage.
Police are also searching for a suspect vehicle but have not yet released any description.
