Improve your English by chatting with other people about everyday topics in a friendly, welcoming setting at Newark Library on Sundays from 2-3 p.m. This drop-in program requires no registration. All library events are free.

Art Workshop For Adults

Join Local Artist Naghmeh Danishmand for two painting workshops. She started painting and illustrations at the age of nineteen. Her major sources of inspiration are Persian miniatures and poetry. She uses classical beauty to achieve peaceful atmospheres in her work. She has worked with many different techniques but she has focused on watercolor in a traditional style.

The program will be in two sessions: Watercolor on May 23, 2018 and Acrylic on June 7, 2018. Each class is limited to 18 people. Please call or visit the library for registration. Supplies will be provided. All Library programs are free!

The Union City Library is a branch of the Alameda County Library system located at 34007 Alvarado-Niles Road, and is wheelchair accessible. Eat What You Grow– Wednesday, June 13
There is nothing more satisfying than eating food from your own garden. Topics such as crop rotation, seeds vs, starts, soil fertility, and plant succession, transplanting seedlings, watering, irrigation, the best crops for your garden and emphasis on re-useable materials will be discussed.

Big Gardens in Small Spaces; Adventures of container Gardening– Wednesday, June 27
This class is geared toward people who don’t have a lot of space and want to grow their own food. Topics such as maintaining soil fertility, best plants for container gardens & crop
rotation will be covered. Growing in containers is a great way to start a garden or add-on to maximize your already existing garden possibilities!

Gardening All Year: Prepping Your Garden for Fall– Wednesday, July 11
One of the many benefits of our climate is being able to garden year-round! Fall/Winter is still a great time to garden. This class will go over some great techniques on how to transition to your Fall garden: cool-weather, edible crops, starting seeds, crop rotation, sheet mulching & planting natives.

在過去多年中,華埠公共衛生局一直為三藩市及灣區的家庭托兒工作者提供中文教授的 「加州兒童護理」 課程。用國 / 粵語教授的課程,將於6月16日及7月7日 (星期六),上午8時至下午5時,在華埠公共衛生局舉行。課程需預先報名,收費為一百八十元,考試合格者,將獲得美國紅十字會証書或美國心臟協會証書。
