The 13th Annual CubaCaribe Festival, March 30-April 7, 2017, will feature nine days of Caribbean dance and music performances, seven world premiere performances, master classes, film screenings, lectures and celebrations at two different San Francisco venues, Brava Theater and Museum of the African Diaspora. CubaCaribe 2017 dedicated to the theme, Manos de Mujeres, features performances by Los Lupenos, Cunamacue, Amor Do Samba, Batala San Francisco and Dimensions Extensions Performance Ensemble, Arenas Dance Company, Cuicacalli Youth Dance Company, Maracatu Pacifico, Bolivia Corazon de America, Batala San Francisco and Dimensions Extensions Performance Ensemble, and Quenepas.

2017 Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival

Welcome to the 2017 Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival(R), now celebrating its 50th year, which is one of California’s most prominent celebrations of Asian traditions and biggest on the West coast. Starting in 1968, the festival serves to cultivate the continued alliance between Japan and United States using culture as its bridge.

This year’s Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday April 8-9 and April 15-16, 2017 from 11a-5p each day. The Grand Parade will be held on Sunday, April 16. All are welcome to join our FREE community festivities as we celebrate heart of Japanese and Japanese American culture in San Francisco’s Japantown!

Spring Egg Hunt at PIER 39

Hunt for hundreds of colorful eggs and enjoy fun crafts at PIER 39’s free Spring Egg Hunt! The fun takes place on Friday, April 14 from 4-6pm in PIER 39’s West Park. There will be two egg hunts: the first for children who are walking-5 years old at 4:30pm, and the second for children ages 6-10 at 5:30pm. Thingyan Myanmar New Year Water Festival

Thingyan festival is the most unique and joyous celebration of the new year in Myanmar. The festival is celebrated with water as a symbol of flowing of time, washing away past misdeeds to provide spiritual renewal, and welcoming the seasonal monsoon to bring bountiful new beginnings. The Myanmar Community and Cultural Center Committee is holding a Thingyan event in Union City to help the Myanmar-American community of Northern California celebrate in a collective fashion here in the San Francisco Bay Area. There will be Burmese traditional dance performances, foods from various regions of Myanmar , traditional ceremony of paying respect to community elders, cultural exhibitions, Thingyan Yein (group) dance, many fun activities and a designated area to play with water just like we do in our native land.
