ASC Projects is pleased to present Live/Work: An Alternative Showcase, a group exhibition about living with art and artists making a living, with works and wares by Mark Baugh-Sasaki, Craig Calderwood, Kristen van Diggelen, and Smith|Allen. In the style of an interior showcase, Live/Work features artists whose consumer wares directly reflect the creative vision, craftsmanship, and conceptual rigor of their contemporary artworks, highlighting both their commercial craft, as well as their content-driven gallery works. The exhibition opens Saturday, December 7, with an artist reception at 7pm and continues through January 18.

“Night, Smoke, and Shadows: The Presence of Atmosphere in the 19th Century” exhibition is running ongoing everyday from 5/14 through 10/6.  The exhibition  were inspired by industrialization and new ideas about optics and abstraction, and they exploited unprecedented opportunities to experiment with processes and materials. This exhibition includes prints, drawings, and photographs by many different well-known artists.

Exhibition Opening Reception for Rebel as Creator: The Art of Liu Kuosung and His Students

 NanHai Art is pleased to present Rebel as Creator: The Art of Liu Kuo­sung and His Students. This is the first San Francisco Bay Area exhibition of Master Painter, Liu Kuo­sung. Universally recognized as one of the earliest and most important advocates and practitioners of modernist Chinese painting, Liu will exhibit a series of three new paintings alongside sixteen works by eight of his students including: Chen Yifen, Chiang LiHsiang, Lin Shaingyuan, Lien Yu, Luo Zhiying, Wu Peihua, Xu Xiulan and Zhang Meixiang in this exhibition. Master Liu Kuo-sung will be present at the opening on August 9th at 2pm at NanHai Art to speak about his artistic journey.
