The Helen Crocker Russell Library of Horticulture at San Francisco Botanical Garden presents Beautiful Relationships: Flora and Fauna from Around the World, an exhibition of nature illustrations by Rachel Diaz-Bastin.

Bastin works in the entomology department at the California Academy of Sciences where she was inspired to learn from illustrators on staff and recently studied scientific illustration at UC Santa Cruz. She is known for her beautifully accurate illustrations of insects. She also illustrates spiders for publication in scientific journals as well as various plants and animals for researchers, conservation organizations, parks, and wildlife centers.

Hayward Kai-Feng Chinese School Art Show

Oakland Ballet Company’s 2017 spring season, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, features two works by company Artistic Director, Graham Lustig, including the West Coast premiere of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the world premiere of Consort, inspired by Shakespeare’s Sonnets. Lustig’s re-telling of Shakespeare’s magical and madcap comedy explores the complexities of human relationships, and draws on themes that are universally relatable.

East Bay DANCES ’17, presented by Oakland Ballet Company, showcases the best and brightest in East Bay dance, featuring an array of local companies working in classical, folk, popular and contemporary dance styles. This year’s participants include Ah-Lan Dance, AXIS Dance Company, Ballet Folklorico Mexico Danza, for change dance collective, Jubilee American Dance Theatre, Shabnam Dance Company, Van der Zwaan Dance Studio, and YuRue Ma.

$25 general admission ($20 seniors/$15 ages 17 and under and students).
