Chinatown Portsmouth Square
Kearny Street, between Clay Street and Washington Street
Chinatown Community Development Center (Chinatown CDC) presents the “Chinatown Safety Fair” on Friday, June 14 at Portsmouth Square with 14 other participating community organizations, businesses, and City departments. This free event is open to all and offers informational booths and workshops in Cantonese and English about fire safety and disaster preparedness.
Over the past few years, a number of Chinatown and North Beach residents sought help from Chinatown CDC’s Housing Counseling staff after being displaced due to a fire in their homes. The dense nature of these two neighborhoods causes homes to be more vulnerable to fires and emergency preparedness is critical for survival.
Chinatown CDC, who has over 10 years of experience in fire prevention and disaster preparedness outreach with the San Francisco Fire Department, is organizing the “Chinatown Safety Fair” to outreach to more residents who reside in some of the densest neighborhoods in San Francisco and nationwide.
