San Franicsoco, CA – The CleanPowerSF approved by The Board of Supervisors expects to launch in October 2013. Residential customers who automatically join the program will have to pay more than expected.
The surcharge increases about 20 percent per month between $11 to $94 compared to the original estimated surcharge between $9 to $77. If customers who don’t want to pay the higher CleanPowerSF rates can choose to opt out to continue to pay and receive PG&E’s energy and rates. The San Franicsoc Public Utilities commission plans to conduct a survey in January to test the program’s design before serving the customers. In addtion to the survey, a very comprehensive outreach program will be undertaking as well.
