A blast at an apartment building killed three people and injured another four early on Monday morning in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, according to local authorities.
The explosion, which occurred at around 02:30, ripped through a fourth floor apartment in a six-story building in the city of Chuxiong.
The blast shattered the apartment’s windows and damaged parts of its wall. Debris and bricks also fell from the fourth floor, damaging vehicles parked in the yard below.
A preliminary investigation by police showed that although the blast was not an act of violent terrorism, it could be a criminal act.
Those injured in the blast have been sent to a local hospital, and authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
