18,300 claims have been filed since thick smoke and soot from a massive fire at Chevron’s Richmond refinery on August 6th evening sent 950 area residents to local hospitals. Among the claims, an estimated 2,100 claims resulted from field visits to the centers and 16,200 were from the call center. Claims are mainly for compensation to cover medical costs, wage losses and property damages. Chevron closed two claim centers in Richmond yesterday. The toll-free number will continue to be maintained. The number is 866-260-7881.
