Cheng Siwei: Challenges to Re-balancing China’s Economy
Cheng Siwei, Chair of the International Finance Forum in Beijing, has played a key role in his country’s economic transformation over the last 20 years. He is spending the next two weeks in different cities in the U.S., including San Francisco, New York, and Boston to give his speech.
Siwei discusses strategies for China to sustain adequate growth. He talks about the relationship between savings and consumption;internal and external need; economic growth and sustainable development, etc. In order to stimulate savings, he says the government has to increase people’s purchase power and be willing to ease their worries about the future.
