LOS ANGELES (AP) – A woman checking up on her aunt found her stabbed to death and bound in plastic inside a South Los Angeles apartment.

Crystal Spradley tells City News Service she went looking for her aunt, 45-year-old Wanda Threadgill, Tuesday night after not hearing from her for two weeks.

Spradley says she and her boyfriend broke down the door of her aunt’s apartment and found her body in a bedroom.

Los Angeles Police Detective Chris Barling says Threadgill’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Spradley says she had been able to access her aunt’s cellphone voice mail and discovered she had not been going to her job as a security guard.
