A pair of underwear was all that was taken when a woman’s apartment was burglarized in Belmont over the weekend, according to police.
At about 4:10 a.m. Saturday, a 22-year-old woman arrived home to her apartment on Irene Court and discovered a burglar inside, according to Belmont police.
The suspect, described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s, ran past the victim and fled out the front door, police said.
Responding officers did not find the suspect, but during a search of the area, a pair of woman’s underwear was found a short distance from the victim’s apartment, according to police.
The underwear appeared to have been dropped by the suspect as he fled, police said. No other property was taken.
The intruder was approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build and short brown hair that was slightly longer on the top than the sides, police said. He was wearing a blue short-sleeve T-shirt with a V-neck and blue jeans.
Police reminded residents to keep their windows and doors securely locked, even when at home or in bed.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact Belmont police at (650) 598-3000.
