Most of a new generation in China knows nothing about what had happened at Tiananmen Square on June 4th, 1989, including Chen Qiao whose father was a former June 4th dissident. She said in China, media never talked about the Tiananmen Square crackdown and the subject is blocked on the Internet .
Chen came to United State last year and she has had a chance to read the articles about her father and the background of the Tiananmen massacre. Yesterday, there was a candlelight vigil and concert held at Portsmouth Square in San Francisco’s to remember the victims who were killed on June 4th 23 years ago. Chen and her friends helped plan the event. Chen’s guardian , pastor Chang said they are still young and they represent the hope for democracy for the Chinese people.
