Sheriff’s officials in the San Francisco Bay Area say deputies shot and killed a man who attacked one of them with a baseball bat.

The Alameda County deputies went to the man’s San Lorenzo home around 10 p.m. Monday after he allegedly became combative with paramedics called to treat him and ran back into the home.

Alameda County Sheriff’s spokesman J.D. Nelson says the deputies were going through the home with their weapons drawn when the man hit one of them with a baseball bat and attempted to hit him again. The deputies then opened fire, killing the man.

Neither the deputies nor the man who was killed has been identified.
