FROM CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON, TO MTV AND COMMUNITY GATE: KTSF DELIVERS THE BEST IN ASIAN TV

SAN FRANCISCO, October 30, 2001 — KTSF-TV, the nation's leading provider of Asian-language programming, heralds the 2001 Holiday Season with a highly-anticipated, primetime lineup: "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" TV Series beginning October 31; MTV Asia "Live" from Taipei on November 6; and the popular Chinese drama "Community Gate," premiering in mid-December.

From October 31 to December 14, KTSF will air "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," a 34-episode series based on the international hit movie. Winner of Taiwan's 2001 Golden Bell Award for Best Television Drama, the series takes place during the Ching Dynasty and is a "must see" for martial arts aficionados and period drama enthusiasts. It features famous leading man Qiu Xin Zhi, who also received a Golden Bell Award for Best Actor. In conjunction with the series, Jay Stone Shih of "China Crosstalk" will interview the film version's rising star, Zhang Ziyi (recently seen in "Rush Hour 2").

KTSF will bring the first "live" Taipei Music Festival concert to Bay Area viewers on Tuesday, November 6, 9:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. PST. Organized by MTV Music Channel, this sold-out June 2001 concert features top music artists from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, including superstars like CoCo Lee, Wu Bai, Elva, Jolin, Nichol, Yanzi and Karen Mok. Mazda, Bank of America and AT&T Broadband are program sponsors.

Rounding out KTSF's lineup of top new programs is the major hit series from China, "Community Gate." Kicking off in December, this series follows a family from the Ching Dynasty through modern times, reflecting China's culture, tradition and philosophy. According to General Manager of KTSF, Michael Sherman, KTSF's programming reflects the diverse needs of the Bay Area's 1.6 million Asian Americans. "From pop concerts to classic dramas, our goal is to meet the programming needs of the Bay Area's ever-expanding Asian American population, and provide them with the newest and highest quality shows otherwise unavailable to them outside of Asia."

KTSF-TV is northern California's premiere multilingual television station serving the rapidly growing Asian American marketplace. Established in 1976, KTSF is an independent, full-power station, providing the Bay Area's Asian population with news, information and entertainment in fourteen languages, including Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Japanese, Korean and Hindi.
