Asian Broadcaster KTSF Announces Premiere of Weekend Newscast

San Francisco – March 9, 2006 - On Saturday, March 25, 2006, KTSF Television in San Francisco will expand its weeknight Chinese-language news programming to the weekends. The KTSF Weekend News will include two half-hour newscasts at 6:00pm with Cantonese on Saturdays and Mandarin on Sundays

The KTSF Weekend News features live, local, national and international news in keeping with the journalistic standards KTSF viewers have come to expect with the weeknight news.  In addition, viewers can expect more community news events, which often occur over the weekend.

"The expansion of our news programming to the weekend reaffirms our long standing commitment to Bay Area Chinese-Americans," said KTSF General Manager, Mike Sherman.

Cantonese News Reporter Kwokshu Leung will anchor the Saturday edition of the weekend news and Mandarin News reporter Dongmei Li will anchor the Sunday edition. Reporter Sean Au will serve as the principal reporter for both newscasts.

According to News Director Rose Shirinian, "The weekend news team collectively brings years of experience to KTSF and will provide viewers with quality, in-depth coverage of issues affecting their daily lives."

Saturday news anchor Kwokshu Leung has been a journalist since 1989 and has been a reporter with various Chinese-language newspapers such as the Hong Kong Standard, World Journal and Ming Pao. He subsequently took a position as a reporter at Canada's Fairchild TV where he specialized in producing news feature programs. Recently a winner of the New California Media Award for "Best Investigative/In Depth Reporting," Kwokshu is also the Weekend Editor of the KTSF Weekend News.

Dongmei Li previously worked in China as a reporter, anchor and director (Wuhan TV, China Central Television, and Hubei Provincial TV). Winner of the prestigious China News Award, Dongmei's specialty is investigative reporting and news commentary. On President Bush's recent trip to China (Nov. 2005), Dongmei filed live reports and special features for KTSF.

Sean Au has worked as an international television news reporter and producer for nearly 10 years. Most recently, he was a reporter for various media including MediaCorp News in Singapore. Sean was hired by KTSF at the beginning of 2006 primarily to work on KTSF's new weekend news programming.
